Quick Overview
The Winterstein Organic Heirloom Apple, Malus domestica 'Wintestein', is an uncommon apple that is green with a strong red blush. Winterstein are a medium sized crisp apple, very uniform in shape and a very late season apple. They are a Gravenstein seedling but are not as tart and full of flavor. Winterstein was developed in California in 1901 and does require a pollinator to produce. Use for fresh eating, desserts, cooking (puree, applesauce, apple butter), baking, juice or hard cider.
