The Snowdrift Crabapple, Malus 'Snowdrift' is an upright, medium sized crabapple tree, attaining 20' high with an equal spread. It has a rounded to vase shape much desired by landscape architects. It is a good pollinizer for medium to late blooming varieties.
The red buds develop into an abundance of single, 1 1/4" white blooms in mid spring which attracts a lot of bees.
The leaves are dark green, obvate and up to 3" long which turn a glowing yellow in the fall for several weeks.
The small orange-red fruit persist through winter and attract birds and other wildlife.
Snow Drift Crabapple is a splendid tree and little pruning is required to develop a well-formed, rounded canopy.
It is deer and rabbit resistant and tolerates urban pollution.
It can be used as a specimen, in groupings, as a windbreak, or under power lines.
