Rich Velvelty Red and Ruffled
The Chicago Apache Daylily, Hemerocallis 'Chicago Apache', is a deep, rich velvet red, with a tiny yellow-green heart and petal edges that ruffle nicely.
'Chicago Apache' is one of our longest bloomers. It was selected for its abundance of blossoms, vibrant colors, and hardiness in a variety of climates and soils.
This ourstanding daylily is carefree, pest resistant and free of daylily rust disease. It will even grow under Black Walnut trees and is cold, heat, drought, salt, and pollution tolerant. It attracts butterflies and resists rabbits and deer.
'Chicago Apache' Daylily is a heavy feeder and likes a high nitrogen fertilizer. It is best to use a slow release fertilizer in the early spring when new growth first appears. Flower stems can be removed after blooming to encourage additional blooms. Vegetation can be cleaned up and discarded in late fall or early spring.
It can be divided at any time of year and division is usually needed every 3-4 years for best performance.
