Dahlia Goldalia Scarlet, 'Goldalia™ Scarlet' PPAF, has unique bloom-forms and colorful bicolored flowers. Goldalia series dahlias really stand out for their compact growth habits and excellent branching. Goldalia has outstanding flower power and generally roots quickly and easily. Scarlet can be a few days slower than other colors. Deadheading is recommended, and it attracts butterflies with its beautiful and stunning scarlet red color. Some gardeners choose to leave their Dahlia tubers in the ground over the winter. In certain regions, this can be very risky, but if you have decided to follow this path, make sure that your Dahlias are growing in very well drained soil and apply a minimum of 6"-12" inches of mulch to the planting area before the ground freezes. The best plan is to dig the tubers and store them in a cool, dry place for the winter. Label each tuber or group of tubers so you know what they are come spring. Store tubers in a dark, cool (35 to 45 F) place. Do not allow tubers to freeze. This plant can be a perennial in zones 9-11. In zones 3-8 it is an annual only.
