Blue Atlas Weeping Dwarf Cedar
The Weeping Blue Atlas Cedar Glauca Pendula, Cedrus a. 'Glauca Pendula' Dwarf, is a handsome dwarf evergreen for specimen planting; reaches about four feet in height!
The blue attractive foliage is more intense in spring and summer. It has a unique and wonderful weeping form when the branches are left to drape to the ground. (It wants to hang to th e ground to provide visual interest.) With this stunning feature of long cascading branches, it can spread quite some distance.
Its tight, stubby seed cones mature in two years. Glauca Pendula, in its old age, gets broader and develops a flat-topped form.
Follow a regular watering schedule during the first growing season to establish a deep, extensive root system. Feed with a general purpose fertilizer before new growth begins in spring.
This hardy cedar prefers an acidic-slightly alkaline well-drained loam soil and location in full sun (6-8 hours sunlight). It is very tolerant of many soil types, but will not fare well in soils with poor drainage.
Known for its graceful flowing nature and beautiful silvery blue-green needles, it resembles a cascading waterfall and creates an excellent addition as a focal point in the garden. If you are looking for something different, the Blue Atlas Weeping Dwarf will definitely highlight your landscape!
