Yew - Erecta
Beautiful Compact Hedge Shrub
Yew - Erecta, Taxus baccata 'Erecta', is an upright, columnar shrub with a stiff, erect and bushy habit.
It has small dark green leaves and the bark is typically reddish brown and the berries, when present, are red.
Erecta prefers a moist, slightly acidic soil with a decent amount of light; can tolerate some shade. Erecta is excellent for hedges or as a backdrop in the formal garden.
Erecta is less compact than 'Stricta' and with smaller leaves. This slender shrub tolerates shearing, is especially tolerant of shade, and is drought tolerant once established.
Erecta Yew is an excellent choice for hedging where space is limited.
