Ash Leaf Spirea
White Plumes and Ferny Foliage
The Ash Leaf Spirea, 'Sorbaria sorbifolia', is a fast growing shrub that has large plumes of creamy white flowers in June. These flowers grow above the deep green, fern-like foliage.
It spreads quickly and is an excellent plant for soil retention. It prefers a moist, well-drained, organic soil. This deciduous shrub is multi-stemmed and grows 6-8 feet tall and 5-10 feet wide.
Spireas are among the easiest flowering shrubs to grow since they are tolerant of many soils, except extremely wet.
The plant also likes mulch and summer watering and prefers full sun to partial shade. Spireas are great for mass plantings or groupings, screens or border shrubs.
