Hydrangea - Blue Bunny

Named a Proven Winner. A very special hydrangea, this one. Blue Bunny™ produces a copious number of charming blue-and-white lacecap flowers from late summer until frost, and will reliably do so year after year.

Even the elegant, rounded buds are lovely. ‘Blue Bunny’ is also sought-after because of its unusual fuzzy leaves, which add texture and interest to the planting area.

Unlike some other pink and blue varieties, the flower color is not at all affected by the soil pH. In general, hydrangeas require even moisture and need good drainage.

For the best flower display, feed in early spring with a slow-release fertilizer that is designed especially for trees and shrubs, and if it needs shaping, prune just after flowering.

This plant is most effective in groups, in the border, in hedges or in a woodland garden. Asexual propagation prohibited.

Quick Overview

Hydrangea Blue Bunny, Hydrangea Involucrata 'Blue Bunny™', produces an abundance of blue and white flowers in late summer until frost. Developed by the late Wim Rutten of the Netherlands, this plant is as special as the man. It flowers form on new wood, which means 'Blue Bunny™' will bloom reliably year after year. The flower color is not affected by the pH of the soil, as with other Hydrangeas. The big, round flower buds and fuzzy leaves add to its beauty. Moisture is a necessity of this plant. Fertilize in early spring by applying a slow release fertilizer specialized for trees and shrubs. Follow the label for recommended rate of application. Use as groupings or masses, perennial or shrub borders, specimen, woodland garden, or mixed container. You will love that Blue Bunny is a strong growing plant that produces an abundance of blooms.
