Forsythia - Northern Sun - Tree form
The Northern Sun Forsythia-Tree form, Forsythia 'Northern Sun', is a hardy Forsythia with huge bright yellow flowers that are 3/4" wide and 1" in length and show up in late April before the foliage. The medium green foliage, on arching branches, is attractive all season.
This tree form Forsythia makes a great vertical accent in a border or as a foundation plant. A vigorous grower, it is adapted to a wide range of soils and has no serious pests. Renewal pruning is useful to keep the plant shorter and more compact. It is best planted in full sun to encourage free flowering.
Northern Sun Forsythia is specifically recommended for landscape use in Minnesota and other northern areas where common Forsythias are not reliably hardy. This tree form will positively live and bloom in spite of howling winter winds, ice, and snow!
