Quick Overview
The Abelia 'Glossy', Abelia X grandiflora, is an evergreen to semi-evergreen shrub with a fountain-like form. Tubular or bell-shaped flowers are white or pink tinged, and they appear at the ends of branches in summer. Plant near water gardens or ponds, in rock gardens, as an accent plant, or border plants. Occasional tip pruning encourages blooming until fall frost. When it needs pruning to control size, cut it back severely in the spring just before it begins growing. The 'Glossy' Abelia is an easily grown plant that should be located in bright light, or preferably full sun. 'Glossy' is the hardiest hybrid of abelia and attracts butterflies and hummingbirds; deer resistant.
