Quick Overview
The Azalea Encore 'Autumn Debutante', Rhododendron Hybrid 'Roblel', has dark lustrous leaves; the blooms and leaves of the Autumn Debutante are strikingly big and broad. The luster of the dark green leaves contrasts well with the delicate, light pink flowers, making a beautiful landscape statement. Being Part of the Encore Series, it is a rounded evergreen shrub with huge single pink and rose bicolored flowers that appear in profusion in the spring, and then again for a lighter encore in the fall. Each bloom measures 3 inches across. This medium growth plant matures to a height and spread of 4 feet and prefers well drained, acidic soil. Encore azaleas are shallow-rooted and prefer to be planted in organic-rich, moist soils with perfect drainage. Establishment is better if heavy clay and sandy soils are amended with organic matter. Use this twice-blooming flowering shrub as an accent in garden beds and borders, or in foundation plantings. Autumn Debutante™ even does well in large containers.
