
Azalea - Caroline Girard
The Azalea 'Caroline Girard', Rhododendron Girard X 'Caroline', is an extremely hardy evergreen azalea with long lasting deep crimson red blooms. The foliage is exceptionally dark green in color and adds an extra splash of color to the landscape.
Its growth habit is vigorous enough to make the 'Caroline' adaptable to the South, as well as colder climates. Being a compact grower 3'-4', it is suitable for large containers as well as mass plantings. It is usually trouble free if planted correctly in proper cultural conditions. As with most azaleas, this one prefers acidic, well-drained soil. Does not like wet feet. Will tolerate full sun, however, prefers some afternoon shade. Attracts butterflies.
