Butterfly Atrracting Blooms June through September

The Liatris ‘Kobold Gayfeather’, Liatris spicata, has tall, lilac-rose spike-shaped flowers with a fluffy appearance and dark green foliage. With its lovely color and strong vertical effect, it provides an interesting architectural dimension.  ‘Kobold Gayfeather’ is well worth giving a spot in the garden!

These unique flowers open from the top down and bloom from June to September.  It is a major butterfly and bee attractor.

Liatris ‘Kobold’ has a plant height of 2’ and a spread of 12-18” and should be planted in full sun in a well-drained area.  It does prefer a bit more moisture than most Liatris, but do not over water.

Liatris ‘Kobold’ looks great as a perennial background, with grasses or white blooming flowers such as Physostegia ‘Miss Manners’.

* Dark green foliage
* Attract butterflies
* Thrives in full sun

tough reliable Review by AmyInNH
I plant these corms without watering in, in the middle of a field and close to the house. Very reliable blooms, thriving in some of the toughest places. Loves the sun, less than happy is shade.
I sit and watch the bees circle these. Swallowtail butterflies are regular visitors on these. Seed heads attract beauteous goldfinches through the winter. Too bad all flowers aren't this easy.
Gorgeous and hardy Review by Travis
Like Terry, I thought I had a bad batch. They were in bloom when I planted them last year, but didn't seem to sprout with the rest of the bed in spring. I dug a few up and there were no signs of life, but left them there anyway. Come a month later, a little green appeared, then they exploded. These gorgeous flowers survive harsh MN winters and come back strong.
Ms. Review by Terry
when I bought this flower, the bulbs were somewhat moldy and smelly. I saved and planted the best, and tossed the others to the back row of the flower bed. I now have lovely purple spikes which bring me butterflies and honey bees, both where I planted and where I tossed the "bad" bulbs. I want to give my daughter in law some of these!!
Love this plant Review by runforest
