Twisty Baby Black Locust
Locust -Twisty Baby™, Robinia pseudoacacia 'Lace Lady' Twisty Baby™, is a dwarf black locust and a rather odd looking compact garden-scale tree featuring a contorted habit of growth and delicate foliage. It is spineless and has unreliable flowering.
Twisty Baby™ is best used as a focal point in the garden; bare black bark and brown branches are extremely showy and add significant winter interest. Because black locusts produce new terminal growth all summer long, until leaf fall in autumn, the growing tips are always a fresh apple green color; when leaflets curl up they show a grayish underside, and the mature leaves turn a deep, bluish green.
Twisty Baby™ produces hanging clusters of white, pea-like blooms with a sweet fragrance. Grow this Twisty Baby™ as a spectacular specimen away from visual distractions so that it might be viewed against the sky! It tolerates poor, dry soils and adapts to a wide range of soils and growing conditions. Prune in late winter once the threat of extreme cold has passed. Deer don't particularly care for this plant and will usually leave it alone in favor of tastier treats
