Fast-Growing, Dense Privacy Tree

The Emerald Green Arborvitae, Thuja occidentalis 'Smaragd', also known as Emerald Green Thuja is a fast-growing, hardy arborvitae.  At just 3 to 4 feet wide, they make a great, fast growing privacy screen without using up a lot of your yard. These also make an excellent wind-break or foundation plant.
“Smaragd” is Danish for “emerald”, which perfectly describes the color of this pyramid-shaped conifer.  You’ll be amazed how its dense-growing, soft-to-the touch foliage remains a vibrant emerald green all year round.
Once the Emerald Green Arborvitae is established, you won’t have to even water this fast-growing cedar.  You’ll see a foot of growth each year that will only slow when it’s 10 - 15 feet in height.  Pruning isn’t necessary either.  Even when it reaches its maximum dimensions, this Thuja will maintain its tight form.
If you decide to trim your Emerald Green Arborvitae, save a few sprigs to place around the house.  The citrus-like evergreen scent will lend a fresh bouquet to the ambience of your home, especially during the holidays.  Holiday wreaths made from the Thuja boughs are a favorite of many people.
After only one season with your Emerald Green Arborvitae you’ll see why this cultivar of arborvitae is becoming one of the most sought after landscape plants.

Great arborvitae Review by IvanHound
I planted 3 of these 5 years ago and they are full and beautiful.
To Lewis who had browning on the south side of the trees:
These definitely need to be watered well the first 2 years and it sounds as if yours had winter burn. I sprayed mine with an anti-desiccant the first two years.
Love these trees Review by Ron
In winter when everything is brown and bare, these are a bright green especially when the sun hits them. I planted a few dozen of 4-5' trees last December and this summer they are growing so nicely with so much new green growth. I do water them a lot and give them buckets of rain water when it rains so they thrive in the heat. These hedges are beautiful, there's no mess of leaves and stay green all year. Excellent specimen for your yard.
turning brown after one year on south side Review by Lewis
I bought eight Emerald Green Aborvitae trees last spring. For some reason the turned brown on the south side. the north side is still green. I am hoping they recover this spring. They are in mostly sunny site between my home and a neighbors. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what I can do? Thanks
Impressed Review by M.T.
Just received my 3 gallon emerald green arborvitaes. I usually don't take the time to do reviews but you guys are impressive. The trees were packed well, very full & lush & taller than what I expected. Thanks Nature Hills! I'll definitely be back.
Attractive Review by Darci
Emerald Green arborvitaes grow so nice and straight. They form a very neat row.
