Grass - Purple Majesty Millet
The Purple Majesty Millet, 'Pennisetum glaucum', is a beautiful corn-like plant with deep purple foliage, stems and flower plumes.
This plant grows 4 to 5 feet tall with cattail-like flower plumes that are 12-14 inches in length.
This is an outstanding ornamental well worth growing even if it is an annual. It will be the conversation piece of your late season garden.
The Purple Majesty plant is very tolerant of heat and low moisture, but performs better with adequate moisture.
Place in a well-drained, sunny site. Sunlight strengthens the purple color.
Birds love the seed too!
The young plants are green and the stem and mid-rib of the foliage first turn purple after about the 8 leaf stage.
* Great fall color
* Wildlife plant
* Deer resistant
