Chocolate Chip Ajuga
Shade loving ground cover!
So you’ve dreamed, designed and finally built that beautiful walkway through the shade in your yard, but you’re disappointed because all you have growing through the stepping stones are weeds. Finding a groundcover that thrives in the shade between your stepping stones can be a huge challenge. We get it.
That’s why we are offering the Chocolate Chip Bugleweed (Ajuga x ‘Chocolate Chip’). The striking little plant gets only 2” to 3” high and if you plant them 10” apart, you will fill in those spaces quicker than you can say ‘Chocolate Chip’!
This bugleweed thrives in full shade, loves a little water every day and takes light to moderate foot traffic.
In April and May they will even reward you with sweet little spikes of blue flowers that will even attract butterflies and hummingbirds. They really stand out against the foliage, which is a show unto itself – the forest-green and milk-chocolate brown leaves have a beautiful sheen in the shade.
If you are looking for a perennial groundcover that excels in hard to grow shady areas, then Ajuga Chocolate Chip is the way to go!
