Maidenhair Fern

Maidenhair ferns are leafy, non-flowering plants. They are very delicate and require good wind protection to      grow nicely.

Maidenhair ferns are slow spreading and non-invasive. Maidenhair ferns are deciduous in colder climates, but      grow best in zones four through nine.

The Maidenhair fern, like all ferns, requires partial to full shade and consistently moist soil.

The Maidenhair fern will grow to a height of one to two feet and similar size    in width.

Maidenhair ferns are typically grown in shady gardens, or in hanging              baskets indoors.

The Maidenhair fern is naturally grown in wet tropics, where it can be            found in moist open sites along riverbanks.

This fern is fairly easy to care for, needing only decent shade and well-          drained soil that is moist to thrive.

Maidenhair ferns propagate best by division.

Maidenhair ferns are also used in the creation of herbal medicines.

Parts of the Maidenhair fern are used in the creation of herbal medicine for      colds, asthma, sore throats, kidney stones and liver problems. The leaves        of the Maidenhair fern are also used to make an herbal tea.
