A honeysuckle shrub is a great addition to any garden or landscape situation. They will generally grow to a height of three to six feet. Some types of honeysuckle shrub will make excellent privacy screens. Most of the varieties of honeysuckle shrub have very fragrant flowers that bloom throughout the entire summer, some well into autumn.

One type of honeysuckle shrub that is very common is the red rum honeysuckle shrub. This deciduous honeysuckle shrub will grow to a height of from eight to twelve feet, and have a mature spread of twelve to fifteen feet. The flowers are white and mature to yellow as the summer progresses. The bright red berries of this honeysuckle shrub persist into the winter months. The upright vase shape of this honeysuckle shrub makes it a great candidate for a privacy screen when planted in a row.

A second type of honeysuckle shrub is the winter honeysuckle shrub. The strong lemony fragrance is emitted from creamy white flowers that emerge in the spring, before any leaves appear. This honeysuckle shrub has ovulate, dark green foliage that will often have a bluish tint. Hardy in zones four through nine, this honeysuckle shrub is a fast grower that prefers full sun, although it will grow in partial shade. They will reach a mature height of six to ten feet and an equal mature spread.

A third honeysuckle shrub is the Pink Tatarian. This honeysuckle shrub originated in southern Russia, and is very tolerant and reliable. The fragrant pink flowers of this honeysuckle shrub are produced in mid-spring, and remain until late August. The fruit is very ornamental in the summer. The blooms are often white, but will vary by cultivar. This honeysuckle shrub is hardy in zones three through eight, and with a mature height of ten to twelve feet, also makes a wonderful privacy screen.
